    Multi-purpose materials

    The layers of the GORE-TEX laminate are made up of a highly abrasion resistant, quick re-drying textile lining material, the microporous, breathable and waterproof GORE-TEX membrane made of ePTFE, a moderate insulation layer, plus a protective knit layer.

    Offering full ease of motion, GORE-TEX Performance Comfort Footwear also protects from wind, rain and snow.

    Standards

    20 times more waterproof than defined in the standard ISO 20344:2011
    Breathability is up to six times higher than the values specified in the standard.
    The laminates used in tactical footwear withstand min. 100,000 abrasion movements when dry, and 50,000 when wet: four times as many as required by the standard ISO 20344:2011.

    Suter waterproof test

    Tests the waterproofness of materials: Gore standards are designed in a way that waterproof and liquid resistance still has to be ensured under exceptional loads.

    Wicking test

    The absorptive properties of upper leathers, textiles, bootlaces and threads are tested by dipping them into water. They have passed the test when the water has not risen more than 1 centimetre after two hours.

    Gore Walking Simulator

    Simulating walking in rain, submerged in a five cms of water and flexed 500,000 times (500 kms). Body weight and walking speed of the wearer is simulated. Sensors in the boot react as soon as the smallest amount of moisture enters the boot.

    Gore Centrifugal Test

    This patented test at Gore-certified manufacturing plants enables identification of 100% waterproofness 30 times more quickly than previous methods. Boots are filled with water, mounted on the device and spun for 30 minutes at approx. 240 revolutions/min.

    Bottle Test

    Only upper materials with a water vapour permeability of ≥5 mg/cm2/h are allowed to be used in GORE-TEX footwear. This is more than 6 times higher than standard requirements.
    EN ISO 20345/347 requires only 0.8 mg/cm2/h for all upper materials

    Footwear Breathability Test

    High breathability and climate comfort of boots with GORE-TEX or GORE-TEX CROSSTECH® laminates is vital. In the comfort test the entire shoe is tested for moisture vapour diffusion and water absorption, which ensures that all components are working.
