KEY BENEFITS
Explore the high-level protective benefits of this technology application.
GORE-TEX PYRAD® fabric technology blocks convective heat flow during arc exposure and stops flame propagation by forming a carbonaceous char with the textile.
When wet or dry, these garments are up to 45% lighter than other garments with class 2 arc protection, allowing the wearers to work outside for extended periods during heavy rain.
As breathability is key for an improved comfort and leads to an increased wearer acceptance, GORE-TEX PYRAD® fabrics are highly breathable and avoid build up of moisture from inside.
Arc rated GORE-TEX PYRAD® garments are durably waterproof and keep the wearer dry and comfortable when working long hours outdoors in heavy rain.
Arc rated GORE-TEX PYRAD® garments are also available in a stretch fabric for a better fit and improved freedom of movement.
Arc rated GORE-TEX PYRAD® garments are durably waterproof and reliably protect electrical workers against the thermal hazards of an electric arc. They stay lightweight and comfortable even when wet.
Up to 45% lighter when wet or dry than other products of their protective class, arc rated GORE-TEX PYRAD® garments feel less bulky to wear leading to more wearer acceptance. They are available in a stretch fabric. This new technology provides electrical workers with an extremely comfortable, soft, and durable solution. Workers can easily bend, kneel, climb, and stretch without any restriction of movement.
The garments provide maximum comfort with the highest protection level, so electrical workers remain safe – no matter the challenge, and no matter the weather.
How it works
Upon arc exposure, the GORE-TEX PYRAD® fabric reduces convective heat flow and stops flames or damage from an arc flash by forming a carbonaceous char with the fabric. The physical integrity of the fabric is maintained effectively for reduced heat transfer to the skin.
Arc rated GORE-TEX PYRAD® garments are compliant to:
