Developed specifically for Emergency Medical Service (EMS) for responses such as COVID-19.
The durable and breathable GORE® CROSSTECH® fabric combined with a rugged seam construction used in these suits allow responders to perform physically demanding activities such as patient assessment, transferring, and transport for longer durations than disposable PPE offerings.
The BIO-99 coverall was designed with input from the emergency medical service community to confirm optimal functionality and integration with complementary PPE, such as N95 respirators and examination gloves.
The suit also provides these additional benefits:
- Certified to multiple use requirements of NFPA 1999 Standard on Protective Clothing and Ensembles for Emergency Medical Operations
- Passes rigorous requirements of ASTM F1671 for Viral Penetration Resistance following 10 wash and dry cycles
- Meets Interagency Board (IAB) performance recommendations of ASTM F1671 and NFPA 1999 for garments included in Minimum Recommended Guidance on Protection and Decontamination for First Responders Involved in COVID-19 Cases (April 10, 2020)
- Reusable and launderable. Third-party testing also confirmed that the fabric and seams maintained their strength and durability after using several of the more aggressive EPA-approved field sanitization disinfectants.
Since the BIO-99 coverall is certified to NFPA 1999 Standard, it qualifies as personal protective equipment for Department of Homeland Security & FEMA grant funds and supplemental funding to Fire Departments under the CARES Act.
