Arc rated GORE-TEX PYRAD® garments stay light-weight and comfortable when wet or dry. They are durably waterproof and reliably protect electrical utility workers against the thermal hazards of an electric arc. They are the perfect choice for long working days with changing weather conditions.
PERFORMANCE ATTRIBUTES
Best-in-class integrity after arc flash exposure (No hole formation)
Picks up 3X LESS WATER in wet conditions as compared to competitive products.
Up to 20% lighter than competitive products
40% more breathable than competitive products
During an arc flash exposure, GORE-TEX PYRAD® fabric technology (countless reactive dots) rapidly reacts to the heat even before the outer shell starts to burn. The reaction of the dots causes them to expand and form a stable insulating protective shell of carbonaceous char with the face fabric stopping flame propagation, blocking convective and radiant heat from the arc flash exposure, and reducing the heat transfer to wearers skin.
Before arc exposure
After arc exposure
The T-shirt (thermal indicator) shows no indication of burn thorugh the garment.
